Glória Dublin’s Lesbian and Gay Choir and Various Voices Dublin 2014 are seeking to appoint:

1.  Musical Director for Gloria DLGC
2. Artistic Director for Various Voices Dublin 2014

 Glória DLGC was founded in Oct 1995; we are an SATB choir and currently have 48 singing members balanced across the full choir. Our current musical director is retiring in June 2012.

The musical director is the artistic director & conductor of the choir. The role is critical to ensuring the choir’s continued high performance standards and the on-going musical development of its members. The successful candidate must be comfortable to support and adopt the ethos of the choir.

 Start Date: September 2012

Various Voices is a pan-European choral festival aimed at gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgender choirs and choruses. Glória, DLGC are the host choir for the festival in June 2014, The Board of Various Voices Dublin are working to construct a vibrant and exciting programme.

The festival will span four days, June 13-16 2014, with an opening ceremony on Friday, and a closing ceremony on Monday evening. During the festival, each registered choir will be given a 30-minute slot to perform to the festival, with delegates attending each mini-concert. There is also schedule of workshops and social events for each day. We look forward to welcoming the 80+ choirs from across the world, comprising 2,000 to 3,000 singers.

Ideally Glória DLGC & Various Voices Dublin wish to appoint the same candidate for both positions, however a candidate may apply for either position. The closing date for receipt of applications is Friday 2^nd March 2012.

The choir were delighted to have Jimmy Deenihan, TD,Minister for Arts, Heritage & Gaeltacht Affairs launch this year’s concert in St Patrick’s Cathedral. During his opening address to over 1,200 people he remarked on the past present and future achievements of Gloria.  This was the first occasion that a member of government attended and launched a Gloria DLGC event.  It was truly a proud moment for the choir. He was particularly delighted to accept a gift from the choir of our newly launched Christmas and classical albums.  He remarked on the beauty of the cathedral and of the great sense of occasion and Christmas that was in the air. The Minister said he was looking forward to the Various Voices festival which Gloria DLGC will be hosting in Dublin in 2014 and praised the choir for the boost it will bring to the Dublin economy with the anticipated attendance of over 3,000 lesbian and gay singers from all over Europe and the USA. Thanks to everyone that came and supported us on December 15^th. We really appreciate your support, you make us what we are! Thanks especially to everyone that purchased our merchandise or contributed to our concert collection. The funding raised goes entirely towards organising our Christmas concert and participation at community and voluntary charity events. On a final note, the committee of Gloria on behalf of the choir would like to wish all of our followers, fans and audience members a very happy Christmas and we are looking forward to entertaining you further in 2012!

Gloria DLGC were delighted to have been awarded our first GALAS award at a ceremony held in the Sugar Club in Leeson St on Saturday October 22nd 2011. Our delight was magnified as this was the only award to have been voted by the general public.

We would like to pay tribute to the other nominees in our category. Accepting the award on behalf of the choir, Pauline our chairperson graciously stated that this award was being accepted on behalf of past and present members of the choir. She paid particular gratitude to our current musical director and previous musical directors.

Thanks to all of you that continue to support us, our family, friends, lovers & former loves. Also thanks to those that support the choir financially via our Friends of Gloria loyalty scheme. Go raibh maith agaibh go léir!

Gloria Dublin’s Lesbian and Gay Choir are delighted to have been asked by Pobal to perform at the OECD conference that is being held from October 13-14th in Dublin Castle. Three senior government ministers are taking part as well as the European Commissioner for Employment, Social Affairs and Inclusion.

Organised by the OECD LEED Programme in cooperation with the Irish Departments of Environment, Community and Local Government, Social Protection, Children and Youth Affairs and Pobal, as part of the activities of the OECD LEED Forum on Partnerships and Local Governance.

The choir is delighted to be performing at such an important event and we look forward to entertaining the delegates and participants.

With all the talk about the forthcoming presidential election, the lovely people at the NLGF have come along with an opportunity to get some early voting on another election of sorts: Irish Artist/Entertainer of the Year.

Gloria Dublin’s Lesbian & Gay Choir has been nominated in this year’s GALAS award ceremony to be held in The Sugar Club, Leeson St, Dublin 2.

The choir are delighted at receiving the nomination and we need you help in helping us win our first GALA!

The GALAS have been set up by the NLGF to honour lesbians, gay men, bisexuals and transgendered people and organisations for their contributions to Irish society. The awards are also to honour politicians, employers and other people who are committed to advancing equality and social acceptance for LGBT Irish people in Ireland.

We in the choir would really love it if you could vote for us, you can vote as often as you like, whereas in the Presidential election you can only vote once!

Gloria Dublin’s Lesbian and Gay Choir wishes to recruit for a short term piece of work a digital graphical web designer. We would welcome in particular expressions of interest from individuals who wish to build their experience in website design, development and maintenance. The closing date for receipt of expressions of interest is Friday October 7th. The choir receives many requests from community and voluntary groups from within and outside the LGBT community. We always do our best to accomodate as many requests as possible.

We are committed in particular where possible to support LGBT groups outside of Dublin. Christmas is in particular a very busy time for the choir. As we are a voluntary group, it is not always possible for us to attend and support all requests.
