Various Voices 2014

Gloria DLGC is proud to host Various Voices 2014.

Various Voices is a pan-European choral festival aimed at gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgender choirs and choruses. Following the wonderful 2009 festival in London, Dublin is ready to take the reins! Hosted by Glória, Dublin’s Lesbian and Gay Choir, we are constructing a vibrant and exciting programme for June 2014 and are looking forward to welcoming both regulars and new faces.

Dublin City University (DCU) will be the venue for the 2014 Various Voices festival, should it come to Ireland. DCU is a young university, situated on an 85 acre campus three miles north of the River Liffey in the city centre, just a 15-minute drive from Dublin airport and a 10-minute bus drive from the city. DCU is also home to Ireland’s largest arts centre: The Helix hosts a wide range of musical, theatrical and dance performances and, with three separate performance venues, will be the ideal hub of the festival.

Delegates can look forward to an extensive workshop schedule, including singing and breathing techniques, finding your root note, a laughter workshop and learning sean nos, a traditional Irish highly-ornamented style of solo singing. Evening events will include a ceili (don’t worry if you don’t know how to Irish dance – professionals will be on hand to show you how!), a classical choral concert and maybe even a few special guests! There will also be a cabaret stage throughout the weekend featuring local musical and comedic talent.
